LEGO Star Wars Desert Skiff (9496) was released in 2012 and recreates the dramatic escape above the Great Pit of Carkoon from Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi. With 213 pieces, this retired set captures one of the Original Trilogy’s most memorable Tatooine scenes.

The set features the distinctive Desert Skiff, complete with movable elements, a storage compartment and a retractable plank ready for prisoners to face the fearsome Sarlacc below. The accompanying Sarlacc Pit features an opening mouth, teeth and tentacles, making it perfect for recreating the battle involving Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Boba Fett.

One of the highlights of set 9496 is its excellent minifigure selection. It includes Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Boba Fett and Kithaba, giving collectors several highly recognisable characters from Jabba the Hutt’s entourage and the Rebel heroes.

The inclusion of Boba Fett adds particular appeal for Star Wars minifigure collectors, while the Sarlacc and skiff make the set an excellent companion to larger Jabba-themed sets.
